Art was always one of the only constants in my life when everything else was so turbulent around me, and with each new piece I create I find another piece of myself that was lost long ago. Since then I’ve been putting the pieces back together one at a time, while discarding the ones that no longer fit.

My paintings represent fear and resilience, identifying the ego, the death of the psyche, and the rebirth of it. I aim to find the beauty and ugliness in all, and to honour the duality between them.

Painting darker subjects helps me shed a light on the parts of society that are hidden away. With macabre imagery and moody colours offsetting subtle brightness and whimsy I aim to evoke a lucid awakening into my nightmare, so the viewer can see the beauty that can live harmoniously within the disturbing.
